Trade Extensions was founded in 2000 by a team of recognised leaders in the field of advanced optimisation algorithms with world-leading competence in algorithm design, microeconomics and advanced electronic markets.
In early 2001, Trade Extensions conducted the world’s first online combinatorial auction with direct feedback to bidders and it grew quickly by partnering with leading consulting firms such as Intersources (now part of Hubwoo), AT Kearney, and Schneider Logistics.
The company merged with Freight Traders, a UK-based logistics sourcing solution provider in In 2007 and 2008 saw Trade Extensions establish its first U.S. office in Houston.
In 2014, Trade Extensions selected Médecins Sans Frontières as its official charity partner. The relationship established Trade Extensions as a 'Field Partner' with MSF Sweden and the company is proud to support MSF’s selfless and essential work in some of the world’s most inhospitable situations.
Trade Extensions now has offices across Europe and the U.S. and its sourcing platform is used by leading companies as diverse as P&G, Cargill, Coca-Cola, Dow Chemicals, and Kimberly-Clark.
Arne Andersson, Chairman and Founder
Arne co-founded Trade Extensions in June 2000. He is one of the world’s leading experts in designing algorithms for optimisation, and has published over 50 articles in major scientific journals. Arne was also Professor of Computer Science at Uppsala University, one of Europe's highest ranking universities.
Garry Mansell, Chief Executive Officer
Garry Mansell has over 25 years experience in the fields of buying, negotiation, e-sourcing and supply chain management. He was a co-founder and Managing Director of Freight Traders before its merger with Trade Extensions. Garry has published a number of papers in the field of logistics and sourcing and regularly speaks at conferences around the world. He is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply and the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport.
